1、 Nowadays, distance-learning programmes are such common thing for us (the study material by post, by internet), but some people argue that courses can never be taken as good as those by attending a college or university in person. To what extent do you agree or disagree？
远程教育(on-line learning或distance-learning)不能取代(replace/ take the place of)老师，而应是学校教育的补充(complementary approach)，二者不是相互排斥的(they are not mutually exclusive)。
教师除了可以灌输知识(impart/instruct knowledge)，还可以激励学生(give the students motivation/ emotional support)，灌输高尚的道德观(instill high moral values)，给学生以灵感(give the students inspiration)，是学生的进步的促进者、导师、引导者和伙伴(facilitator, supervisor, guide and partner)。
(far-reaching impacts)，全面教育应该是道德教育、伦理教育和心理教育的结合(students need to be educated morally, ethically and psychologically)。
Clearly, there are compelling arguments 【具有说服力的理由】in favor of 【赞同】the traditional, classroom-based learning. From the time of the ancient Greeks and Chinese and perhaps before, we have clung to the idea of a “teacher;” one who shares his / her wisdom and expertise. This model has been tested and survived the ages. Teachers not only can share knowledge, but they can assess, correct and motivate students. Truly there is great value in the conventional way of education.
On the other hand, remote learning also has its own upsides. For example, students who live in remote areas without roads or funds to pay for tuition to attend a school far away can acquire high-quality education with the help of a computer and. an Internet connection solves this. Also, distance education is helpful for students to become more independent learners, and online learning develops this skill.
First, it is obvious that as long as people can access 【使用；进入】the Internet, they can obtain the education resources easily. It is especially beneficial to people who live in a remote area without schools or are short of funds to pay for tuition. So, it is truly a convenient way for people who are keen on learning. Moreover, the distance learning can help itself integrate 【结合；综合】its best knowledge materials and release them for sharing. For example, in the last 5 years, some prestigious universities, including Yale, Cambridge and Oxford University, have published their most famous professors’ courses on the Internet, followed crazily by 【被...追求】a sheer volume of 【大量的】students all over the world. If more and more universities take part in the program, students will be facing a wide range of knowledge and the benefits for the whole human beings is unparalleled (无可比拟的).
However, that is not to say that traditional education should be neglected. Teachers not only can impart 【传授】knowledge, but also they can correct, motivate and interact with students. But unfortunately it has drawbacks due to its inflexibility【不灵活性】 and lack of communications with teachers after class.
